11 Bill Hamilton Bill has been playing and singing since a child and has worked with many bands over the years. This evening he will give us a mixture of folk and country, popular music and his own songs. Club Performer Bernie Hewitt. Entry £8 (£6 for members)
18 Celtic Horizon Band The band started as a duo in Scotland in 2001 with Bob Ferguson one of the lead singers from the highly successful Beggars Row band. In 2015 they increased the band to a four-piece until the present line-up from 2017.The other members are Menno Schilstra and Sebastian (Bas) Meijer and Guido ? from the Netherlands. The band play a mix of Scottish, Irish, various Celtic songs and their own songs and tunes. There is a fine balance between up-tempo rousing songs and tunes that have the audiences clapping their hands and stamping their feet, and gentle ballads with beautiful choruses to fun songs. 1 PlaidSong Nicky Small and Syd House are both from Perth, Scotland and have collaborated musically for several years. They combine historical research interests with traditional, original singing/songwriting. Nicky and Syd draw on an age-old tradition of finding and learning songs from the many cultural sources of Scotland, adapting and reworking old tunes and new words. https://www.plaidsong.co.uk/ Club Performer Jennifer Bell. 15 Colin McEwan and Yvonne McLeod with Kiara Clark (fiddle) "What was there to do in the Fife hamlet of Luthrie during lockdown? Colin McEwan (vocals and guitar) and Yvonne Mcleod (accordion) spent the summer of 2020 arranging and putting up on YouTube a number of Colin's songs and tunes. 8 Joss Cameron with Shianfolk. Joss is a traditional folk singer, performing many of the songs from the North East of Scotland. Joss is a blood relation of well-known ballad singer Jeannie Robertson. Joss was founder member of Shianfolk and joined up with Amy Dudley – a multi instrumentalist and composer from Galloway, and Julia Dignan – (‘The Tea Wifey’), a well-known fiddler in many bands. 5 Dougie Mackenzie and Brian Miller Dougie "I love to sing and listen to others sing traditional songs and ballads, mainly Scottish.." Brian has been playing music since he was a young boy and his instrument of choice was the guitar. In the early 70s, while at Glasgow University, he joined the 'Laggan', played professionally with 'Swan Arcade' and even before that used to play regularly with the great Fife Road Show which featured many other fine singers and musicians. 12 Anthony Toner. Anthony is a singer songwriter based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Famed for his engaging between-songs patter and his accomplished guitar playing, he is one of Northern Ireland’s most popular live acts, chalking up dozens of live shows a year as a solo acoustic artist. He’s been described as ‘James Taylor meets John Prine in a second hand book shop’, and that about captures his style – literate, warm, insightful and connected. 19 Isla Ratcliff is a Scottish fiddle player, singer and composer, with a background in classical violin and piano. Her work is underpinned by her interests in cultural politics, the environment, spoken word, theatre, and music’s positive impact on our wellbeing. 3 Pauline Valance Pauline is a singer/songwriter and clarsach player from Ayrshire. In usual circumstances, she likes to play in as many varied settings as possible, from Stirling Castle to Tannahill's Cottage, from an extinct volcano to a riverboat in Australia. During Lockdown, she wrote and released the album Blue Leaves, which was Celtic Music Radio's Album of the Week in May 2021. She also developed a habit of singing One Song to the Tune of Another, which is exactly as it sounds! Club performer: Michael Back Entry £8 (£6 for members)
10 Beth Malcolm is a singer-songwriter and keyboard player from Perth. Beth’s music is folk-inspired, and she sings a mix of traditional, modern and self-penned Scots songs. Beth was named The Scotsman's folk 'One To Watch 2022'. Beth’s voice is featured on Trad-electronica sensation Nitework’s new album. 14 Ella Munro Ella Munro is a folk singer originally from the Isle of Skye but now based in Glasgow. Ella's unique combination of folk song, Scots song and original songs has enraptured audiences across the country . Ella was a finalist for the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award in 2017 and later successfully released her debut EP in 2018, ‘The Final Trawl’. 4 Ally Forsyth is a Glasgow based folk musician and tutor, a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. At the Riverside Music College he curated and launched the Traditional Music branch of their HND performance course, lecturing in Music Business and 1st Instrument Piano. In Ally's debut EP, he played all of the instruments, layering dozens of his vocals and writing much of the original music. At the Riverside Music College he curated and launched the Traditional Music branch of their HND performance course, lecturing in Music Business and 1st Instrument Piano. In Ally's debut EP, he played all of the instruments, layering dozens of his vocals and writing much of the original music. 22 Paul Walker and Karen Pfeiffer The Anglo-German duo Paul Walker & Karen Pfeiffer hails from Staffordshire, although Karen is originally from Stuttgart, Germany, where Paul ‘discovered’ her busking in a city centre park and the two of them have now been playing music together since 2012.
